Deputy Suspended For Asking Woman On Date In Lieu Of Ticket

A sheriff’s deputy in Toledo, Ohio was suspended after giving a woman a warning instead of a traffic ticket and then asking her out on a date. The woman says Deputy Richard Strong with the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office told her he could give her a ticket for not having a front license plate on her car and because neither she nor her kids were wearing seat belts. He allegedly told her tickets are expensive and he’d do her a favor and let her off with a warning instead.

The woman says at this point Strong became inappropriate, giving her a card with his personal phone number on it and telling her they should “hang out sometime.” She feels like he abused his authority and filed a formal complaint against Strong. He was charged with discourteous treatment and reportedly waived a review board and disciplinary hearing and took a two-day unpaid suspension.
