During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Fabolous revealed he had to face the wrath of Bey (it was more like he got a stern talking to) after the release of his 2010 track "For The Money," where he raps, "If you could have Beyoncé, would you take Solange?"
“The first person I saw was Bey and Beyoncé was like, ‘Yo, let me holler at you,’" he explained of his first run-in with the 38-year-old singer after he dropped the song. "She was just telling me that they rock with me."
He added, "I really didn’t even think when I was saying it that, I didn’t really connect to it like that. Punch line-y style is just to say something to be catchy and metaphoric, but I didn't see the deeper side of it."
"I ain't gonna share the exact conversation, but she told me this is people," Fab continued. "Saying something like that can personally hurt her. And I said, 'You know what? I get it.' I said, 'Yo, when I see Solange, I'll apologize to her.'"
And that's exactly what he did when he saw Solange. Although he admitted that their conversation came awhile after his initial convo with Bey. "I ended up seeing [Solange] at Soho House one day. It was years ago. Even the song was years ago, but I'm saying this is how I realized that," he shared. "I seen her, so I was like, all right, let me beeline to Solange and apologize."
Fab then changed his tone to convey Solange's seriousness as he recalled what she said to him when he approached her: "She was like, 'What up?'"
"And I was like, 'Yo, I just want you to know I didn't mean it in any malice, but I do take responsibility for saying that and I apologize,'" he shared.
