Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Reportedly Quit Royal Family Over Email

The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Attend The Endeavour Fund Awards

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world when they announced via Instagram that they planned to step down from their roles in the Royal Family and move abroad back in January. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have since made their historic transition out of royal life and are now reportedly settled in Meghan's hometown of Los Angeles. While the drama seems to have settled down quite a bit in recent weeks, a new report from The Daily Mail reveals the Sussexes' quit their royal duties over email, which caused some tension within the House of Windsor.

According to The Daily Mail's sources, Harry and Meghan informed Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles about their big plans in an email they sent while staying in Canada over the holidays. "Shortly before they came back to London in early January, Harry contacted his grandmother and father by email to tell them he and Meghan wanted out," the Mail's report claims.

When Her Majesty and Prince Charles advised Prince Harry not "rush into anything," the Duke of Sussex reportedly feared his family would try "stonewall" him into staying, so he "decided to push the nuclear button," which was that majorly shocking public announcement on Instagram. The source claims, however, this the Queen and Prince Charles "understood that he and Meghan wanted something different and were willing to help but it was complicated. There were issues like security and funding, visas and tax, which neither of them had thought through. Harry was told to put his request in writing and come up with some ideas."

Despite some tension within the family—especially between the Sussexes' and Prince William and Kate Middleton—the recent global health crisis has reportedly helped them find their way back together. Not only are the royals concerned about the world health crisis, they've been personally affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as their father tested positive a few weeks ago. Though Prince Charles is out of self-isolation and on the mend, the scary situation mended some broken bridges within the Royal Family.

The Daily Mail reports that Prince Harry and Prince William have been in touch quite a bit in recent weeks. “Meghan told her inner circle of friends that Harry has been communicating with Prince William and the queen on a pretty consistent basis," a source explained. "She said this world crisis has actually brought them all closer together, especially Harry and his brother."
