RECALL: USDA Expands Beef Recall
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has expanded its recall of ground beef to include another 12 million pounds.
Back in October, the USDA announced a massive recall of 6.5 million pounds of ground beef and other beef products from JBS Tolleson in Arizona. Now, the company is recalling 12 million pounds of raw beef that was shipped around the U.S. New reports of people sickened by salmonella led to the new recall. The affected items were packaged between July 26th and September 7th.
There have been more than 240 reported cases of people getting sick from consuming the beef. 59 of those have been hospitalized. (CBS News)
Talk About It:
- Make sure you check your packages of beef.
- Imagine how sick you could have gotten last month if you ate the bad beef on a bed of romaine lettuce?
- Maybe just stick with chicken for now -- or at least until that's recalled.
