It was a historic night at Monday's Emmy Awards.
Ted Lasso won best comedy series for the second year in a row, Succession took home the trophy for drama series and The White Lotus was named top limited series at the ceremony, hosted by Kenan Thompson.
In the individual categories, Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae became the first Asian actor to win lead actor in a drama series, and the fourth Asian person to win an acting Emmy. Zendaya became the first Black woman to win lead actress in a drama series, and the youngest two-time winner in Emmy history.
Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph — who broke into song during her acceptance speech — made history as the second Black winner for supporting actress in a comedy. The first was Jackée Harry of 227 in 1987.
And Squid Game’s Hwang Dong-hyuk became the first Asian director to win the drama series category, and the first-ever director to win for a non-English language series.
Jean Smart won outstanding actress in a comedy series for Hacks, and Jason Sudeikis again was named best actor in a comedy series for Ted Lasso.
